Hossa Signs With Blackhawks In Effort To Get Booed By Detroit Too

ESPN:

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed star winger Marian Hossa to a 12-year whopper deal. Sources tell ESPN.com the deal is worth an average of $5.2 million a year.

Hossa will be 42 by the time this deal is up, but assuming it’s a frontloaded contract with the last four years or so at a million apiece, it’ll also give the Hawks the option of buying Hossa out in his late 30s, thus giving Hossa the majority of his free agent bucks while never really crushing Chicago’s cap. At $5.2 mil, Hossa will count less against the cap than Martin Havlat has the past few years, and Hossa’s considerably less injury prone and a better goal scorer. Conscious Pens-fan animosity aside, this is a great move by the Hawks.

And if you’re keeping track at home, Hossa Burned Bridges Count: 4
