Malkin May Return Saturday Against Boston, Like The Pens Really Need Him

P-G:

The Penguins are returning winger Chris Conner to their American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre.

The significance of that move is that it leaves them with just 18 skaters, 12 of whom are forwards.

That means center Evgeni Malkin, who missed the past seven games because of a strained shoulder, is being counted on to play when the Penguins face Boston tomorrow night at Mellon Arena.

Me, the day Malkin’s injury was announced: “No biggie – as long as he comes back fully healthy, I have no problem with him being out. It might actually help Malkin to get a little rest early in the season, plus it’ll give the Pens a chance to check out some of these roleplayers. They’ll be fine.”

Me, today: “JESUS CHRIST PLEASE GET HEALTHY PLEASE GET HEALTHY PLEASE GET HEALTHY PLEASE GET HEALTHY…”
